Bienvenidos a los estudiantes - Welcome Students!
This site serves as a resource for students in Spanish 6, 7, and 8 with Sra. Lang. Please explore the links to the left of this page. Please note: From time to time, I might assign homework from this page. You should get familiar with the page and how to navigate it for this reason.
This year, you will learn about more than vocabulary and grammar.
Sure, we will cover those topics but we also are going to work on learning how to communicate with each other, how to appreciate and identify with those from other countries, and how to become a more responsible citizen of this changing world. Along the way, you can expect...
Vocabulario - about 15-30 words depending on your grade level
I will always post extra help videos and resources to this website if you are having trouble but it is up to you to practice.
Gramática - usually in small groups or in stations
From time to time, I might teach you as a whole class but I like to keep it interactive.
Presentaciones - expect to speak Spanish every day.
From in-class warm ups to larger rehearsed presentations, we will be learning to communicate.
You won't always be permitted to use a script or cue cards, but don't worry, I am here to help you!
Escritura - You will be completing writing assignments for homework or in class.
This is a really effective way for me to see if you can use what I have been teaching you, so do your best always!
Lecturas - Each grade will read at least one novel or smaller excerpts of cultural material in SPANISH.
Don't worry, you can do it!
Cultura - history, experiences, countries, and more...
We will celebrate holidays, learn about others' lives, and investigate interesting historical events.
In fact, here is a little more about that.....

6th Grade - España y México
We will talk about life in these two countries as well as study some of the people who live or have lived there in the past. Oaxaca and Sevilla just happen to be my two favorite locations. I like Sevilla because I used to live there in college, and Oaxaca is so rich in indigenous cultures that I enjoy teaching about it. Hopefully, someday we will get to really experience both of these!
7th Grade - Ecuador and Chile
We are going to study homes in Ecuador and we'll read a novel this year about a girl who travels to Chile for a semester. In Ecuador, I have always been fascinated by the Galapagos Islands. When we read Casi Se Muere later in the year, we will take an imaginary journey to a town near Valparaíso.
8th Grade - Argentina, Peru, and Puerto Rico
In Chapter 7, we will begin to study Argentina's rich political and social history. We will also talk about ecotourism and traveling in Perú. I hope to also introduce you all to some of Puerto Rico's diverse and fun celebrations.
"I look forward to a great year with all of you. I hope that you explore new boundaries, begin to feel confident in yourselves, and want to learn about the world" - Sra. Lang
